Kate’s maternity photos – pregnancy photography with HOtography – York
What a treat it was to photograph Kate, a girl blessed with a tall slender figure and carries her bump like a supermodel. I knew we were going to walk out with some great photos that day.
We started the session in Kate’s punky clothes and as we progressed removed her dot martins & cardigan to soften the look. Kate was a natural in front of the camera and instinctively knew to alternate the direction of where she looked to give variety to the photos and I just had to instruct her on arm & leg positioning.
We then swapped over to my teal maternity dress.
Next I had Kate’s partner (Nick) help lift & throw the dress’ train to create a elegant windswept effect, by this point we’d also established Kate had a (right) ‘side’ so started concentrating on facing her in the appropriate direction.
In the run up to the shoot, I’d asked her for any ideas/poses she wanted in the maternity session and to my surprise Kate wanted quite a few comedy ‘slob’ shots she’d seen on pinterest to reflect the cravings she’s had (crisps & kids birthday cake apparently). Had I’d known in advance one of the cravings was birthday cake I would have been tempted to setup a cake smash shot for her.
We finished off in the studio with a few tender images with messages for little bambino and a hug from dad.
Last but not least, I plucked a few flowers out of my garden and we did a gorgeous milk bath scene.
It was a pleasure to work with Kate & Nick and I want to thank them for their patience (it was a long session) but hope the variety was all worth it.
